Citroën comes out on top in WhatCar? True MPG tests

The What Car? True MPG tests aim to challenge the official Government MPG figures by testing cars in the real world with real world situations. This truly challenges a car’s fuel economy, and gives a more valid, real-world MPG figure. Most of the cars were diesel powered but some petrol and hybrid cars made the cut.

Of all of the small cars on the market today, Citroën came out on top with two of their most popular city cars, the C3 and the DS3. Both achieved over 60mpg, with the C3 reaching up to 70mpg. See the full list here.

1. Citroën C3 1.4e-HDi 70 Airdream – official 83.0mpg: True MPG 70.3mpg - 'This diesel Citroën C3 is the only car in this list to return more than 70.0mpg. It might not be our favourite small car but a True MPG of 70.3mpg could prove very tempting to some buyers.' To see the full WhatCar? Citroen C3 review click here or to see our latest offers click here.

2. Citroën DS3 1.6e-HDi 115 Airdream – official 74.4mpg: True MPG 63.0mpg - 'Another diesel Citroën, but this time with a more powerful engine and a more stylish exterior. There's much to like about the DS3 including a classy cabin, generous specification and a True MPG of 63mpg'. To see the full WhatCar? Citroën DS3 review click here or to see our latest offers click here.
