The DS 3 CROSSBACK has quality in all the right places

The DS brand has made strides these past few years. The DS badge is now a genuine alternative to mainstream manufacturers. So much so that we’ve come to expect high quality in every model of the DS range, from entry to range-topper, and the latest car, the DS 3 Crossback, really lives up to the billing.

The DS 3 CROSSBACK is a luxury compact SUV. It takes style, quality and technology to a new level over the DS 3 hatch. It builds on the popularity of the DS 3 with a similar footprint but mixes up the formula with fresh SUV styling.

DS3 Crossback has arrived.

DS3 CROSSBACK launch at the Paris motor show

The DS 3 CROSSBACK range kicks off with a three-cylinder PureTech turbocharged petrol engine. This is available with 110, 130 or 155bhp. A six-speed manual transmission comes as standard, but an eight-speed auto is available optionally. There’s also a 1.5 diesel engine for those of you who rack up big miles.

More exciting is the new all-electric model. The DS 3 CROSSBACK E-TENSE as it’s called is powered by a 135bhp electric motor which drives the front wheels. It is fed by a 50kWh battery pack mounted under the floor. DS says the E-TENSE has a 186-mile WLTP range and will get from 0-62mph in 8.7 seconds. It will also charge from nearly flat to 80% in 30 minutes at a 100Kw rapid charging station. Nice.

Trim levels and kit

Of course, with the DS 3 CROSSBACK being an all-new model, it boasts a suite of all-new technologies and features too.

These include matrix LED headlights and full LED taillights, DS SMART ACCESS (keyless entry and go), DS PILOT with Drive Assist, Park Pilot and a Head-Up Display, a FOCAL Electra sound system and Extended Traffic Sign Recognition.

From launch you can choose from five trim levels: Elegance, Performance Line, Prestige, Ultra Prestige, and La Première. Elegance models come with a 7” touchscreen with Mirror Screen, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, rear parking sensors, the Safety Pack and the DS-Connect Box as standard.

The Performance Line, which is expected to be popular, boasts Black Basalt cloth seats with Alcantara and sportier styling. Prestige models upwards feature a larger 10” touchscreen with DS-Connect Nav.

The most striking thing about the DS 3 CROSSBACK isn’t the equipment though, it’s just how much a leap forward it is in terms of style and quality.  The DS 3 CROSSBACK is designed to feel luxurious in all the right places. The exterior is powerful and elegant, while the interior cocoons you in plush materials.

From the flush fitting door handles to the diamond-cut alloy wheels (which are standard across the range), this is a car where no expense has been spared to create a quality product. Everything you see and touch is just right. Overall, it might be bigger than the DS 3 hatch, but people want space and versatility more than ever. If you want the same, the DS 3 CROSSBACK is a winner. Orders are open now.
