CITROËN POWERS INTO FORMULA E WITH BOLD VISION, STAR DRIVERS, AND CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY
Citroën has officially entered the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, marking a thrilling return to top-tier motorsport and a bold step into the future of electric racing.
The brand’s commitment to Formula E reflects its core values of innovation, sustainability, and passion. Citroën CEO Xavier Chardon described the move as “an electric, innovative and passionate adventure that embodies our vision for the mobility of tomorrow.” The championship’s city-centre race format offers a unique opportunity to connect with a younger, tech-savvy audience while showcasing French engineering excellence on a global stage.
To lead its charge, Citroën has signed two exceptional drivers: Jean-Éric Vergne and Nick Cassidy. Vergne, a two-time Formula E champion and former Formula 1 driver, brings a wealth of experience and versatility, including endurance racing with Peugeot TotalEnergies. Cassidy, one of the most accomplished talents of his generation, boasts the Japanese Triple Crown and multiple podium finishes in Formula E. Both drivers will also compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship, reinforcing Citroën’s motorsport ambitions.
At the heart of Citroën’s Formula E campaign is the GEN3 Evo single-seater—a high-performance electric race car developed by Stellantis Motorsport. With a top speed of 320 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.86 seconds, it’s the fastest electric single-seater ever to compete in the series. The car features dual electric motors for enhanced energy recovery, a lightweight carbon fibre chassis, and a striking tricolour livery that proudly represents French innovation.
Citroën’s entry into Formula E is more than a racing initiative—it’s a statement of intent. By embracing a 100% electric, responsible, and visionary competition, Citroën is reaffirming its commitment to shaping the future of mobility.
