Kia Sportage Reaches Half a Million UK Sales Milestone

Kia is celebrating a remarkable achievement as the Sportage surpasses 500,000 sales in the UK, cementing its position as one of the country's most successful and best-loved SUVs.

Since arriving in the UK in 1995, the Kia Sportage has grown to become the brand's most popular and recognisable model, spanning five generations and more than three decades of success. The milestone underlines the Sportage's enduring appeal among British motorists and its status as Kia's best-selling model both in the UK and globally.

Britain's Favourite SUV

The Sportage continues to dominate sales charts across the UK. Following its 30th anniversary celebrations in 2023, the model has accelerated from 384,778 UK registrations to the half-million mark. It was the UK's best-selling SUV in both 2024 and 2025, recording 47,163 and 47,788 registrations respectively, while also ranking as the nation's second best-selling car overall in both years.

With more than 115,000 examples sold over the last three years alone, demand for the Sportage remains stronger than ever. In the first five months of 2026, the model achieved 21,274 registrations, retaining its position as the UK's number one SUV and second most-registered vehicle overall.

Award-Winning Family SUV

The Sportage's popularity is reinforced by an impressive collection of industry awards. Most notably, it has been named What Car? Family SUV of the Year for four consecutive years, recognising its blend of practicality, technology, efficiency and value.

More recently, the Sportage was crowned Best Hybrid Medium SUV in the 2026 EcoCar Electrified Top 50 and also picked up the Best Car for Caravans up to 1,500kg title at the 2026 What Car? Tow Car Awards, in partnership with the Camping and Caravanning Club.
