New Transit Connect: Connecting van drivers with their next meal
Life on the road as an electrician, a plumber or a parcel courier can be hungry work – especially if you’ve got to track down somewhere to eat in an unfamiliar area.
How much simpler would it be to simply say “I’m hungry” to bring up a list of nearby cafes and restaurants – and then ask the car for directions via the satnav?
The updated medium-sized Transit Connect is the first of the Ford vans to enable drivers to do exactly that with the help of its voice-activated SYNC 2 connectivity system.
On sale this summer, the revised Transit Connect is also able to update drivers on local speed limits, return into its lane should it drift across the white lines, and cut down on fill-ups – with better fuel efficiency than any of its rivals.
Further technology to support drivers includes the ability to automatically switch the headlamps setting between high and dipped beam; and a system that alerts drivers when a passing vehicle is in their blind spots.
Ford's MyKey system enables owners to programme a key that restricts the top speed and reduces the maximum volume of the audio system. It can also prevent the driver from deactivating safety technologies.
Transit Connect was first introduced in 2013 as part of a completely renewed and expanded Transit line-up – alongside the Transit, Transit Custom and Transit Courier
