We're sure you'll have many miles of trouble-free driving but should something crop up, we want you to know exactly what you should do! This page will help you navigate some of the issues you might have with your new car and when/where to seek help should the need arise.

Does your Ford have a dashboard warning light? Your vehicle may be trying to tell you it has a problem.

And it's important that you know how to react to a warning light or symbol, otherwise your vehicle may suffer a serious mechanical failure.

As a new Ford customer, you will have Ford Assistance with the AA. If in the event of a breakdown or you're in need of a recovery, please call 0203 564 4444. You will be taken to the nearest Ford dealer of your choosing if your vehicle cannot be fixed on the roadside.

There are certain exclusions to this, including if you're towing a caravan but please still call and explain the situation. If you are a Motability Customer, the RAC is who you need to call, on 0800 731 1173.

The Ford dashboard symbols follow a traffic light colour system:

Green: the system is working correctly or is currently in use
Yellow: something is not working correctly - take extra care and check it out as soon as possible
Red: there is a serious, and potentially dangerous problem - stop driving as soon as it is safe to do so

Tyre Pressure Warning Light

This could mean tyre pressure is low or you have a puncture.

Most petrol stations and garages have an air compressor to check your pressure.

Service Engine Soon Light

Commonly known as check engine light or engine management light.

It could indicate a number of faults from minor issues to mechanical issues.

Brake System Warning Light

Check parking brake is fully released, if it is, it may mean that the brake fluid is low. If ABS light is also on, then it could signal your brakes may not work properly. Call for recovery.

Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS)

This light will come on briefly to indicate the system is in use. If it remains on, it may mean there's a fault. It's safe to continue your journey, but keep your distance and get it check as soon as possible.

Engine Oil Warning Light

When this light comes on, stop as soon as possible and turn off the engine. Have a look for any obvious leaks and check oil levels, topping up if necessary. If levels are fine, then the oil pump may be faulty. In this case, call for recovery.

Airbag Warning Light

This light could mean a few different things, including the chance it may not go off in a crash or deploy unexpectedly. If this comes on, please get it checked straight away.
